From the Executive Board

This Thursday at 6 p.m., we will be holding a general meeting for ONA Mizzou. We are a group of students who are passionate about digital media. We come together to learn new skills, share ideas and help each other succeed in the digital space. And we want you to join us.

For many of us, ONA has been a gateway into our journalism careers. We were all underclassmen trying to figure out where we wanted to go, and ONA helped us refine both our skills and our goals. It has given us opportunities to develop new skills and tools outside of what we’ve learned in the classroom. We all have busy class loads, but the skills we’ve learned through ONA Mizzou have given us an edge in our classes and internships. We've built interactive Google Maps, learned tips behind filing successful open records request and created standout online portfolios. We’ve even flown drones!

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We are part of the national Online News Association which is on the front line of digital media. ONA is well-known by people in the industry, but not many students in the country have the chance to participate with this great organization in such a direct way.

We want other students to have these same opportunities to learn about digital media and gain the skills to compete in that world. That’s why we want you to come to our general meeting on Thursday.

We’re in the process of planning our events for spring semester, and we want to know what you want to learn this coming year. We want this to be your organization, so if you've got ideas, we've got the muscle to make it happen.

Whether you’re at all of our events or this would be your first, we want to see you there.

Oh yeah, and there’ll be food.
