Three things to expect from ONA Mizzou next semester

By Sarah Darby

This time of year, we generally start planning our spring events, but this time, we wanted to host an open planning meeting to allow all our student members to help us brainstorm events that will benefit them during their time at Mizzou. We heard some great suggestions, and here are a few things we are looking forward to in the spring.

General meetings

Part of ONA Mizzou's mission is to build a community for students that share a common interest in digital media. We want our members to know each other and interact on a regular basis. To achieve this goal, ONA Mizzou will host regular meetings starting this spring that will be open to all members. Attendees will be able to provide input on future events and build a strong community with their fellow students.

Involvement opportunities

As an extension of these general meetings, there will be more involvement opportunities for ONA Mizzou members. During our brainstorming meeting, several of you mentioned an interest in building your portfolio of work through this organization. Next semester, members will be able to gain practical skills promoting ONA Mizzou events while building their resume at the same time.

Skill-based workshops

In the past, ONA Mizzou members have learned how to build interactive mapsfly drones and more in our skill-based workshop events. Next semester, we will offer more of these kinds of events that will teach actionable skills in under an hour. We've heard a lot of interest in learning basic code and data visualization, so look out for these workshops next semester.

These are just a few of the ideas we are excited about, but we still want to hear from you! Share your ideas with us in the comments of this post.
