Elections are coming!

As the school year is (slowly) winding to an end, it's once again time to elect a new ONA Mizzou executive board. As president, I have loved the experience and the opportunities ONA has given me. I've gotten to meet and work with some really awesome journalists and people, and gotten to know everyone on the board better. And let me tell you, they are some pretty great people.

This year, ONA Mizzou has hosted a lecture on drone journalism, learned how to file a FOIA request, recapped the national ONA conference, brought speakers to the UNITY Conference and more. Every event was a chance to meet new people, network and develop our skills further. We've also gotten to know some of you, our members, better at our monthly Open Newsrooms.

So that's where you come in... Our elections are April 30 at 6:00 p.m. and we want you there! Whether you're running for a position, or just voting on who you want to lead ONA Mizzou, it's important to get involved if you're interested.

If you've ever attended an ONA Mizzou event before or would like to be involved, you can join us and have a say in our leadership. And this year, we'll be electing a new executive member, the Membership Development Chair, who will be responsible for leading a committee of ONA Mizzou members in membership outreach and event planning. The committee will provide more chances for students to get involved with ONA Mizzou and I'm so happy and excited for that possibility.

So, has this whole post basically been a pitch to get more involved with ONA Mizzou? Yes.

But start thinking: do you want to be more involved in ONA Mizzou? Is there something that you want to see happen in the Journalism school that hasn't yet? Do you have big ideas but nowhere to implement them? Would you want to run for an executive board position, or maybe join the membership development committee?

Our application is now available online and elections will be April 30 at 6:00 p.m.

If so, I hope to see you at elections!
